According to some studies, most people suffer body aches almost every day due to uncomfortable body postural issues at their workplaces. Fortunately, there are some exercises you can follow even in your busy schedule to avoid workplace-caused pain.

  • Causes

When our body remains in the same position for very long, especially at our workplace, it causes serious troubles, including various types of chronic pain, and musculoskeletal disorders is one of them. Musculoskeletal disorder is mainly caused due to bad postures (biomechanics) while performing recurring tasks like pushing or pulling, overhead reaching, lifting, or working in inappropriate body postures.

  • Prevention And Care

If there is some trouble, its prevention and cure are also there. Nowadays, many companies provide better solutions to their employees, including ergonomic assessments for good posture and workstation setup, including your office chair. Our body functions best when we move, so move frequently in some time intervals, if possible, also set timers.

You can also apply the ‘20-20-20 rule’. According to this rule, get up every 20 minutes and look 20 feet away from you for 20 sec. Also, take a short walk of 2-5 minutes in between your tasks or do 1-2 simple exercises to manage healthy blood flow in your body.

  • Advised Stretches

Some simple yet useful stretches for stiffness in the body and muscular back pain that you can perform while you are working are:

01 Stretching of upper body and arm

  1. Clutch both hands over the head with palms facing outwards.
  2. Push your arms up, stretching upward.
  3. Hold for 10-30 sec.
  4. Repeat.

02 Latissimus stretch (Overhead reach)

  1. Stretch each arm above the head.
  2. Get to the opposite side.
  3. Hold for 10-30 sec.
  4. Repeat

03 Head and bear stretches

  1. Shoulder shrug (nod).
  2. Raise both shoulders together up towards the ears.
  3. Drop them, and repeat them 10 times in each direction.
