When you apply a mixture of carrier medium (oil / water) and tea tree oil on the affected areas, it clears the pores of clogged materials which usually comprise dead skin cells and sebum. These clogged up pores along with bacterial growth can lead to the development of reddish spots that can keep spreading if not checked in time.
You can apply a mask of aloe vera gel which has a few drops of tea tree oil mixed in it. A few drops of this oil can also be put in face washes and toners so that when you apply them on your face, the oil spreads evenly along with the base medium. However, there is no instant effect with the use of this oil. You need to leave it on the affected area for some time (at least an hour) before washing it off. There might not be a need to apply moisturizer but you could apply it to soothe your skin and give it the require moisture content.
